How we review

ProfumiGourmand.it publishes original editorial reviews of brand-name perfumes. This page explains our method, for the benefit of readers and anyone assessing the Site's trustworthiness.

Who writes this

The Site is run by Paolo Napolitano, with the help of language analysis tools for drafting. This isn't an anonymous editorial team: the Site owner and their details are listed in the privacy policy.

How we choose what to review

We prioritize fragrances with high search demand in Italy: bestsellers from established houses, widely discussed budget alternatives (“dupes”), and perfumes that come up often in head-to-head comparisons. No brand pays to be included or to get a higher score: the list of reviewed perfumes is not sponsored.

How we build our judgment

Every review comes from actual analysis, not an off-the-cuff opinion. For each perfume we check:

• The official olfactory pyramid (top, heart and base notes) as declared by the brand or reported by recognized industry sources;
• How it compares to similar fragrances already reviewed on the Site, to understand what truly sets one perfume apart within the same olfactory family;
• Expected longevity and projection, based on concentration (EDT/EDP/Parfum) and composition, with honest language about where a perfume excels and where it doesn't;
• Value for money, comparing the real price on Amazon.it against the product's tier and comparable alternatives.

The score and pros/cons we publish are an independent editorial judgment, not an average of third-party reviews: when we also show an aggregated rating from another source, it is always disclosed and labeled as such, with a direct link to the original source — never passed off as our own.

We don't claim to have personally worn every single bottle for weeks: unless stated otherwise, the assessment is based on cross-referencing the sources described above. If you're looking for one person's skin-test impression, fragrance forums remain a useful complementary resource.

Prices shown are verified directly on Amazon.it and include the date of the last check. Amazon can change price and availability at any time: always check the current price on the product page before buying.

How we earn

This does not influence the score or the judgment expressed — we publish the same judgment even on perfumes with lower or no commission.
